A Brief History
Starting out in 2013 as Sheffield Print Club, we successfully ran a variety of printmaking workshops, open access, outreach and events from our previous space in Lenton Street, Sheffield. Temporarily closing our doors in 2019, our current director undertook a scoping report into different printmaking studios throughout the UK and we regrouped. In January 2021 Carousel Print Studio was established as a registered charity. We launched in September 2022 in Yorkshire Artspace’s Exchange Place Studios, in Castlegate Sheffield and have since successfully provided hundreds of printmaking workshops for people in Sheffield and wider regions as well as providing vital facilities for around 40 artist members. We are proud too have established ourselves as a vital charitable arts resource for people in Sheffield and wider regions and are the only open access facility in the area.
“Coming to the studio each week allows me to share my art practice, engage with other volunteer technicians, and feel supported as I explore new creative ideas. Carousel isn’t just a place for making art, it’s also a supportive community that fosters mental well-being.”
Shino, Carousel Print Studio Volunteer
We continue the legacy of the late David Gasi, previous director of Sheffield Print Club and talented Graphic Designer.
